Cerwin Vega Stroker 18" Dual Voice Coil 1600watt Competition Sub
This used Stroker 18D is a couple of years old but its in good shape. It comes out of our show car, it was professionally installed so we don't have the the box & literature. We bought it for $800, only reason we're letting it go is cause we're recustomizing our show car from the ground up & it won't be ready for another year. We hate to let our sub go, but we don't want to let it sit here doing nothing. So instead of letting this Sub sit up in storage, we're trying to find it a good home. This Stroker is a competition sub but it's never been used in a db drag. We've only used this sub for our listening enjoyment during promo displays, But we've cranked it up once & it hopped out of the box after breaking the heads off the mounting screws. After having it remounted with heavy duty screws we kept our amp turned down & the volume too.
Only other problems we've ever had with this sub, is noise polution tickets. This woofer is not a toy. It's made for Competition.
Forget decibels.
We're into G-forces and you're going to spend the next few years driving down the highway with a huge grin on your face. Stroker! Even the numbers are loud: up to 1,600 continuous watts of power handling. A 31-pound magnet. And, even on a bad hair day, 125 decibels of kick-drum pounding Cerwin-Vega bass. Have a seat. And get to know your next subwoofer.
There are 3 models of Stroker subs: the 12" 1,000-watt Stroker 12; the 15" 1,200-watt Stroker 15; and Dr. Deep an 18" 1,600-continuous-watt Stroker 18. Now, if a woofer's going to move you, the woofer has to move. It's called "long excursion".
The more you can get a woofer's cone to move back and forth, the deeper the bass and higher the output level. A Stroker 18" sub has a peak-to-peak excursion of 1.5". In car audio, that's miles beyond anyone else's subwoofer. What you'll hear, is light years beyond other subs. Because with all this inward and outward move ment, your Stroker will stay in precise alignment. This "'linearity" means low distortion at even the lowest frequencies and huge bass performance at insanely high volumes. You see, music may be freedom, but bass is stone-solid rigidity. Your parents always said you needed a stabilizing force in your life, I propose a long fiber pulp cone, sand-cast frame, and dual 8" spiders. Our dual concentric spider design is what gives Stroker, its stroke. Not to mention, its patent. Most dual spider subs put both spiders on the bottom, under the cone. What's wrong with that? The voice coil is only partially controlled. With Stroker, there's one spider on top of the voice coil, and one at the bottom.
So while one spider is pulling, the other is pushing. And when you're pumping, say, 1600 watts into a Stroker 18, the voice coil is totally stable. Driving down the road, you'll see none of this. You will of course, hear and feel tight, punchy, intense bass. Without distortion.
Our cone material is the audio equivalent of a bulletproof vest. Imagine, a 15" piece of paper with the strength to shake your entire car. It's a specially-treated non-transfer cone that behaves as a rigid piston, regardless of power level.
The sand-cast spoke frame is a study in strength. they tooled this beast in their own machine shop. So it's strong enough to support the huge motor assemblies yet it also dissipates heat. Energy, then, stays out of the frame and instead fills the voice coil. With music. On that note, the alloy former in the Stroker's voice coil is able to transfer heat out of the voice coil in, well, a flash. So you get higher power handling, and higher efficiency.
Even the voice coil wire is darn near hell-proof. And the Stroker's precision-machined pole piece and back plate give you optimum magnetic coupling. At Cerwin-Vega, the tweaking never stops. You can see it in the gold-plated terminals and heavy gauge tinsel leads (little things that amount to even more power handling). All of which combine to insure that your vented box installation is the finest, tightest, pure bass-blasting creation on an otherwise quiet little planet. Stroker! It's more than a subwoofer. It's an absolute human rush.
